Amia Chair

Description

a chair with a secret

Beneath the Amia chair's upholstery, inside its sleek backrest, there's a form of Steelcase's unique comfort system called LiveLumbarTM technology.

Awarded Gold Best of NeoCon 2007 in the ergonomic seating category, AmiaTM is a hardworking task chair designed to handle long hours of serious sitting.

Inside its sleek backrest is its little secret, a patent-pending LiveLumbarTM technology - A system of flexors that contour to fit your spine for continuous lower back support.

1. Seat Height
The height of your seat adjusts to maximize comfort and provide the proper relationship to your work-surface and work tools.
2. Seat Depth
Adjustable seat depth accommodates different leg lengths. Adjusting the seat depth properly can reduce pressure behind the knees and provide better lower back and leg support.
3. Back Tension
Adjustable back tension allows the chair to be fine-tuned to your body weight and personal preference so you can recline comfortably and remain supported while reclining.
4. Adjustable Armrests
Arms adjust fluidly in 4 directions so you can find a natural position. Adjusting the chair arms based on your body size, task and personal preference will reduce strain on your shoulders, arms and wrists.
5. Back Lock
You should recline in your chair often throughout the day to change posture and the load on your spine. The backrest should be locked in the upright position if you have a condition that makes reclining difficult or uncomfortable.
6. Flexible Seat Edge
When you recline or lean forward, the front seat edge flexes just enough to relieve pressure on the back of your legs.
7. LiveLumbar HeightTM
The LiveLumbarTM inside the backrest is a system of individual flexors that flex to fit your back and how you move in your chair. It provides dynamic support for your lower back.
